William A. Newton, Jr., 65, of Plainville, passed away at his home surrounded by his family, following a hard-fought battle with cancer, on Wednesday September 14, 2022. He was the husband and best friend of Carolyn (Koval) Newton, and devoted father to Ryan and Jillian.
Born in New Britain on July 8, 1957, he was one of four children to Barbara (Sinkiewicz) Newton of Plainville, and the late William A. Newton. Raised and educated in Plainville, he was a 1975 graduate of Plainville High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant after proudly serving his country for four years. He and Carolyn settled in Plainville where they raised their two children, and shared 37 years of marriage. Bill retired as facilities manager from G.E., after 35 years of dedicated employment, and, a licensed pastor and affiliate of Elim fellowship, Bill impacted the lives of many through his ministry, and as the spiritual coordinator for Pivot Ministries. When he wasn’t helping others, he spent his days fulfilling his passion for golf. A loving son, husband, and father, he will be missed dearly and remembered fondly.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves his son, Ryan W. Newton and his wife Natalie; his daughter, Jillian E. Newton; his sisters Kim (Matt) Daley and Lisa (Dwayne) Martin; his brother, Michael (Gail) Newton; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Family and friends may gather on Monday evening, from 6-8 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. A funeral service in celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel New England (Bethel Christian Church) 750 Stevens St, Bristol CT. He will be laid to rest privately.
