William Avery Obituary

William (Bill) Gordon Avery, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, 51, of Cape Coral Florida, passed away after a short illness on May 7, 2021.

Bill was born on February 9, 1970 in Connecticut at Bristol Hospital and was the son of the late Leslie (Les) and Alda (Rowlands) Avery.

Alda passed away when Bill was very young and Les was remarried to Roberta (Olson) Braddock. Roberta (Mom) has always been a very important part of Bill’s life. Bill grew up in Plainville as a freckled faced, picky eater kid that managed to survive on only bologna for the longest time. Any song or jingle that included the names Bill or Gordon was used to annoy him by his siblings for sheer entertainment purposes. As a teenager, he dabbled in BMX bike racing and would compete at events in North Hampton MA. After graduating from Plainville High School in 1988, he worked for a business within the family until moving to Naples Florida in 1996.

Bill worked for various construction companies in Florida including part owner of Structural Injection Systems and ultimately reunited with The Walker Contracting Group of Naples as a job site superintendent. Bill truly enjoyed working with Mike and Katie Walker as they were like family to him.

Bill loved the outdoors and had a passion for salt water fishing, boating, riding his motorcycle and firearm collecting. Bill also felt the need to have every kitchen gadget known to man, 17 tape measures, hundreds of fishing lures, 4 printers and enough auto cleaning product to detail every car in the neighborhood, not to mention more keys than a school janitor, in which we have no idea what half of them are for. Anyone who has spent time with Bill as family or friend, most certainly appreciated his unique personality, humor and warm heart. Bill will be missed tremendously and leaves a void in all of our lives, but the memories and stories that he shared with us will always put a smile on our faces.

Bill leaves behind his mother, Roberta of Adolphus KY, brothers John and his wife Elizabeth of Ocean Springs MS, Scott of Covington GA, Keith of Plainville CT, James of Adolphus KY, sisters Denise (Braddock) and husband Mike Hagerty of Gainesville GA, Linda (Braddock) and husband Rob Gomez of Ridgeland S.C., Patricia (Braddock) Wojcik of Bristol CT., as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the Walkers, the Adams and Jason Swanson for all of their support throughout this difficult time.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be planned for a later date.  For future service information and online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
