Vasco Vincenzo (Vincent) Senese, 89, of Southington, passed away on 9 October 2023. Papa was born in Colli, Province of Frosinone, Italy on 1 March 1934. Growing up in Italy during World War II forged his character in steel. He spent time in the Italian Army as a blacksmith before meeting the love of his life Rose Marie (Calderoni) Senese. Papa emigrated to the United States in 1956 with his new bride and settled in Bristol, CT. They raised a large family of six children and moved to Bloomingburg, NY, in 1975 where Papa opened a successful welding business … Vincent’s Welding … crafting all sorts of ornamental welding products including railings and fireplace doors. One of his finest fireplace doors is still evident in the lobby of the Hotel Thayer at West Point, NY. Papa and Rose Marie missed their family in CT and moved back to Southington in 2011 when he retired. Papa was a master mechanic and could build and repair anything with minimal instructions. In his spare time, he enjoyed cycling, playing cards, drinking fine wine, watching soccer, and listening to Italian music.
Papa is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose Marie Senese, his four sons, John Senese and fiancé, Gina Monteleone of Farmington, CT, Rocco Senese and his wife Marie of New Hampton, NY, Antonio Senese of Southington, CT, and Vincent Senese of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and his two daughters, Anna (Senese) Gibbons and her husband Tom of Stonington, CT, and Maureen (Senese) Rossi and her husband Victor of West Granby, CT, and daughter-in-law, Gina Senese, of Bristol, CT.
Papa is also survived by his 9 grandchildren John Gibbons and his wife Alexa of Duvall, WA, Meaghan (Gibbons) Silverman and her husband Jake of Jersey City, NJ, Justin Rossi and his wife Lindsey of Tom’s River, NJ, Alex Rossi of New Jersey, Joshua Senese of Bristol, CT, Briana Senese of Southington, CT, Kyle Senese, Jake Senese, and Angelina Senese of New Hampton, NY.
He also has 4 great-grandchildren Allison and Matthew Gibbons of Duvall, WA, and Dominic and Amelia Rossi of Tom’s River, NJ, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Papa was predeceased by his mother, Anna Simone Senese, and father, Giovanni Senese, his four sisters, Maria Senese Spaziani and Lina Senese Spaziani, and two younger sisters as a child.
Papa lived life to the fullest every day and his legacy lives on in each of us.
