Thomas "Tom" Merton Plaskett

Thomas Merton Plaskett, 67, of Bristol, passed away on December 21, 2021 at 5:55 AM at Bristol Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of 46 years to Kathleen Moreen (Costa) Plaskett.

Tom was born on July 24, 1954 in Torrington, CT son to the late Shirley Plaskett and Ronald Kilduff. Tom was raised by his grandparents, Merton and Mae (Dove) Plaskett, who both played a big role in his life, especially his grandmother, Mae. During his high school years Tom played various sports, including baseball and basketball. Tom married Kathleen on April 17, 1975 on a Thursday and together they had three children. He worked as a heavy machine operator for various construction companies for several years. In his free time, Tom enjoyed restaurants and live music with his wife and friends. He also enjoyed watching sports and his favorite teams were UCONN, Red Sox, Celtics, and the Green Bay Packers. He was a man of his word, always telling it how it was and very punctual. Although he may have seemed rough around the edges, Tom had a heart of gold and was willing to help others even if it meant giving tough love at times. He always enjoyed getting a reaction out of others in good jest. Above all, Tom was a family man. He was supportive, loving, and caring for his family in his own way. He will be missed deeply by his family and friends, forever cherishing the memories they have shared together through the years.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children, Shuni John Plaskett and his wife, Emily, Nathan Jonathan Plaskett and his fiancée, Carrie, and Mayshar Johanna Plaskett; his grandchildren, Kayla Plaskett, Rachel Plaskett, Eli Plaskett, Kenai Plaskett, Anijah Plaskett, Micah Plaskett, Clara Plaskett, and Gabriel Plaskett; his aunt, Nancy (Plaskett) Goodwin and her husband, Herold; his cousins, Michelle Ryan and her husband, Richard, Cheryl Brunet and her husband, Tim, Danny Kessell, Kim Hill, and Susan Eisenberg; his half-sister, Rhonda; and his half-brother, Paul. He was predeceased by his half-brothers, Gary and Billy, his sister-in-law, Kim Roy, his cousin, Sal Shaia and his aunts, Helen and Martha.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville on Thursday, December 30 from 10 to 11:30 AM. Funeral services in celebration of Tom's life will be held on Thursday at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery, Bristol.
