Theresa Lillian Gavin, 64, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Friday, November 21, 2025. Born on May 11, 1961, in New Britain, Theresa grew up in Plainville as one of five children to the late Robert and Frances (Damiano) Gavin. Rooted in a family where love, loyalty, and togetherness were central, she carried those values with her throughout her life and shared them freely with all who knew her.
Theresa built a longtime career in food service, a path that perfectly suited her generous heart. Cooking was her love language, and she found true joy in feeding others. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, laughter, and nourishment, and she treated everyone who walked through her door like family. Her caring spirit extended into her garden, where she loved growing fresh food to cook and share, tending each plant with the same devotion she gave to the people in her life.
Selfless by nature, Theresa was the person people turned to in times of need. She had a gift for showing up; quietly, consistently, and without expectation. Above all else, Theresa’s greatest joy was her family. She was everyone’s “Auntie Theresa,” a steady source of support, kindness, and gentle wisdom. A devoted mother and a loving “Mum” to her treasured grandchildren, she poured her heart into every moment spent with them. She will forever be remembered for her giving heart, and the countless ways she made the world a better place simply by being in it.
She is survived by her daughter, Angela Gavin and her fiancé Sean Taylor; her son Anthony Gavin; her grandchildren, Bella, Cayden and Addison; her siblings, Laura Cruz, Robin Heslin, Frank Gavin (Terry), Marybeth Jones (Bobby) and her former sister-in-law and dear friend Laura Tomasetti; along with many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews, all who will miss her dearly.
Theresa’s passion for feeding others may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233, Plainville, CT 06062.
Family and friends may gather on Monday December 1, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. Words of remembrance led by Life Celebrant Jesse Gnazzo will be shared at 7 p.m. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
