Sylvina Barbara (Trombley) Snay passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, May 18, 2026.
Born in Ellenburg, NY on June 20, 1939, and raised in Mineville, NY, Barbara as she was known to many, was one of seven children of the late Clifford and Ruby (LaMere) Trombley. She married the love of her life, Charles Snay, on June 18, 1960, beginning a devoted partnership built on faith, family, and love.
In her early years, Barbara worked for the Town Clerk’s Office in Moriah, New York, before she and Charles made their home in Connecticut, where they raised their three children in Southington.
Barbara was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Luke Parish- St. Dominic Church in Southington. A talented artist with a gift for woodworking, she found joy in creating with her hands. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years, camping excursions, and especially treasured her trips back to New York to visit her family and lifelong roots. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and “Meme,” whose warmth, kindness, and steady presence touched all who knew her.
In addition to her husband Charles, she is survived by her sons, Derrick Snay and his wife Carol and Christopher Snay and his wife Denise; her daughter Valerie Gregory and her husband Steven; and her grandchildren Joshua and Rachel Gregory. She also leaves her brother, Wayne Trombley; her brothers-in-law, Rowan Malbon and William Armstrong; her sister-in-law Catherine Trombley and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant sister, Denise Trombley, her brother Ronald Trombley and her sisters, Virginia Rotella, Thea Armstrong, and Joanne Malbon.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff who were her second family at Fresenius Medical Care for the compassionate and wonderful care they provided during her weekly dialysis treatments over the past 18 years.
Honoring the wishes of the family, Barbara’s life will be celebrated with private funeral services. For online expressions of sympathy please visit http://www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
