Stefano Santacroce, 82, of Plainville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Steve, as he was known to many, was the beloved husband of Barbara (Yeski) Santacroce, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born in Italy on December 7, 1940, he was one of three children to the late Giuseppe and Mary Santacroce. He moved to the U.S. at the age of 15, and married the love of his life shortly after, settling in Plainville where they raised their three sons. Steve was a well-known and respected foreman for Tilcon from where he retired after 35 years, leaving a legacy of hard work and dedication, along with many friends and colleagues. He proudly served his town with the Plainville Fire Company for 14 years, and was a kind neighbor and devoted friend who could be relied upon for just about any favor. Never one to sit down, Steve was a hands on Grandpa who devoted his retirement years to his family, along with his “other” pride and joy, his white corvette convertible. A leader, teacher, provider, and encourager, Steve was a strong and proud man who cared for the needs and livelihoods of others. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered for his selflessness and love.
In addition to his wife, Barbara, he leaves his sons, Steven and his wife Roberta, Scott and his wife Ana, and Marc; his grandchildren, Steven, Marc and Haydee Marie; his brother Joe; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Marta.
In lieu of flowers, Steve may be remembered with contributions to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 280285 East Hartford, CT 06128 or www.cancer.org
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Steve’s life on Tuesday, December 27, from 4-7 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
