Sharon Giggey, 80 of Plainville passed away Sunday, December 10 2022. A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Sharon loved the people in her life dearly and gave her all to them.
She is survived by her daughter, Robin DiMauro and husband Robert of Wethersfield, son Laurence Mason and wife Kathleen of Florida, daughter Diane Mason and partner Jon Thomasen of Plainville. She was predeceased by her son David Mason. She is also survived by her sister Betty Lou Lawrence and husband William of Southington and predeceased by her sister Brenda Joyce Bone. She loved being Nana to her nine grandchildren – Bob, Larry, Christopher, Anthony, Danielle, Charda, Jon, Caitlyn, and Jessica - twelve great grandchildren, and really anybody who needed her. Her home was always open and her family was her world.
She passed after a strong fight against several years of illness, in the same spirit she fought for her fellow workers as a proud member Local Lodge #1137. A staunch advocate for worker’s rights, she served as treasurer, vice-president, and president of the Machinists Union during her 42 years as a proud employee of Emhart/Black and Decker.
A time of visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
