Scott Parker Steele, 83, of Plainville passed away peacefully in his sleep the early morning of Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Apple Rehab of Plainville. He is now reunited with his parents and brothers who have gone on before him.
Scott was born on May 23, 1941 in Providence, Rhode Island son to the late Thurston and Carolyn L. (Patton) Steele. He spent his formative years in Rhode Island, where he attended and graduated from Moses Brown Prep School. Scott was a devoted veteran of the U.S. Navy, who served with honor aboard the USS Holder DD-819.
A dog enthusiast, Scott fostered a deep connection to these loyal and loving animals. His admiration for dogs began at a young age as he helped his family raise Champion Cocker Spaniels. He carried the love for dogs throughout his life, holding a special bond with his niece’s Beagles.
Scott's passion for cooking and baking knew no bounds, and his culinary talents brought delight to all fortunate enough to savor his dishes. His Christmas cookies, meticulously crafted with care and expertise honed through years of experience in the food service industry, were a perennial favorite among loved ones. His love for the food industry led him to his favorite pastime of dining at local restaurants where he found comfort and joy in the familiar. With a set routine of sitting in the same seat and ordering the same meal, he shared many memorable moments with those who crossed his path. Fondly remembered for his independent nature and gentle demeanor, Scott touched the hearts of everyone he encountered.
Scott is survived by his niece, Carolyn Pattrell and her husband, Brian, his nephew, Charles Steele and his wife, Kimberly, his great-niece, Nicole Dube, his sister-in-law, Rosa DeMarco, and his sister-in-law, Margaret Steele. He was predeceased by his parents, Thurston and Carolyn L. (Patton) Steele, his brother, Lee Patton Steele, and his brother, Lindsay Thurston Steele.
Services in celebration of Scott’s life will be held privately. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville extends their gratitude to the Steele family for their trust.
