Scott Singleton Obituary

Scott Anthony Singleton, a cherished soul known for his infectious laughter and compassionate heart; passed away on April 26th, 2024. Born to Linda Bensavage (Doody) and Hubert James Singleton on February 22nd, 1973 in his home state of Connecticut.

Scott was a graduate of Eastern High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree at Southern University in CT. He went on to pursue careers in both CT and Florida. His career in insurance was marked by his perseverance and dedication when he received the highest award obtainable by his company. In true Scott fashion; he never boasted about his many achievements, certifications and awards he earned even prior to the most prestigious one. If you asked Scott what his greatest accomplishments were; he would mention his children: Darian Singleton, Jalena Singleton and raising his step son Austin Adams.

Growing up; Scott could be found exploring the woods, shooting hoops or break dancing in the neighborhood with some of his best friends. He had a passion for adventure and a love for the simple beauties in life like rainbows and sunsets. He was one to actually stop and smell the flowers, relish at autumn leaves and stare at the stars.

Scott’s siblings remember him as a bright light that could fill up any room with a contagious smile that could be seen for miles and how his hugs were both protective and endearing. His love for CT never wavered; as this was seen through his compassion for playing basketball and the UConn Huskies- he was always representing his team even when he resided in Florida. His sisters, Alexa Myers (Singleton), Alicia King and Cassandra Keola (King) had a deep an everlasting bond with their brother that was strengthened by sharing moments of laughter and tears with him, game nights, phone calls that lasted for hours, video calls, vacations and visits, and the occasional jokes.

Predeceased by his sisters Rosalyn Thorpe, Felicia Singleton and his grandmother Dorothy Norton. His love will endure in the laughter of his children Darian Singleton, Jalena Singleton, & Austin Adams; through the embrace of his mother Linda Bensavage (Doody) and the shared moments with his father Hubert James Singleton. His love and memories will be carried on through his Siblings: Alexa Myers (Jimmy), Cassandra Keola (King), Alicia King, Anthony Singleton, Toni Singelton Houston, Tonya Carouthers, Hubert Singelton Jr, Tiffany & Ja-Neen Colquit, Nikki Wells, Derric Singelton, Roxanne Singleton, Gia Zarella-Brown (Bill) and his 1st cousin Christopher Brown (who felt like a brother to him). Scott leaves behind many cousins, life-long friends, his indigenous CT tribe, his community and widow Giah Singleton.

A memorial service to celebrate the father, son, sibling, family man, and friend that he was; will be held on Friday, May 17th from 6-8pm, at the Plainville Funeral Home, located at 81 Broad St., Plainville, CT 06062.
