Sandra (Krasawa) Slade

Sandra K. Slade, 81, loving mother and grandmother, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the Pines at Bristol. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 52 years, Richard J. Slade, Sr.

Sandra was born on May 22, 1943 in Hartford, CT as the only child to the late Stanley and Gladys (Stoneburner) Krasawa. Raised in Rocky Hill, Sandra faced the trials of life with remarkable strength, having lost her beloved mother at the tender age of 6. She was fortunate to have a loving stepmother, Barbara, who she shared a special relationship with.

Sandra and her husband chose Plainville as their home, where they dedicated themselves to raising a family rooted in love, unity, and support. As an only child, Sandra embraced the joy of motherhood with great passion, raising five children who carried forward her legacy of compassion and resilience. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren and she reveled in the warmth of family gatherings that grew larger with each new generation.

Sandra worked as a Materials Management Specialist for Superior Electric, formerly in Bristol, where she poured her heart into her job, building lasting relationships with colleagues and contributing to a team that became like family. Her passion for her work was a testament to her character, reflecting her strong work ethic and her vibrant spirit.

As a devoted member of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Plainville, Sandra dedicated countless hours to her community and volunteered generously, embodying the essence of giving. Her commitment to helping others extended beyond her church, as she regularly donated blood for the American Red Cross, showcasing her selflessness and deep care for the well-being of all.

Sandra enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She spent countless joyful hours riding motorcycles alongside her husband, embracing the open road and the freedom it offered. She cherished the many get-away’s camping at Hammonasset Beach with her husband; trips that started as a simple retreat for the both of them and blossomed into a joyful gathering place for the entire family. When not exploring the outdoors, she could often be found nestled in a cozy chair with a good book or enjoying a heartfelt movie night. Her love for her family and pets filled her heart with warmth and joy.

Sandra is survived by her daughter, Nancy McLellan and her husband, David, her son, Adam J. Slade and his wife, Michelle and her son, Jarred A. Slade and his wife, Zoe; and her grandchildren, Stephanie, Scott, Kate, Adam Jr., Andrew, Harrison, Benjamin, and Samantha. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Richard J. Slade, Jr., her daughter, Sandra Bouchard and her son-in-law, Daniel Bouchard.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 9 to 10 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street, Plainville. Committal services will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.
