Sandra F. (Boyington) Hobson, 83, passed away peacefully after a long illness on March 10, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Bristol on January 2, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Francis Milton and Constance Amelia (Bucchieri) Boyington. Sandra was raised and educated in Bristol and was a proud graduate of Bristol Eastern High School, Class of 1961.
She married the love of her life, John M. Hobson, and together they built a life centered on family and hard work. The couple settled in Southington, where they raised their three children, later moving to Plainville. In her later years, Sandra returned to her hometown of Bristol, where she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, who devoted seven years to making sure she lived her best life—most especially making sure her sweet tooth was always satisfied.
Sandra retired after 25 years of service with the State of Connecticut, where she worked for the Department of Education, the Office of Policy Management, and the Department of Public Utility Control in New Britain. She also proudly supported her husband in the family business, Hobson Trucking Co. of Plainville.
Sandra and John shared many happy years traveling with friends, creating treasured memories along the way. Above all, Sandra loved being a grandmother. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them—making memories, sharing family recipes, and surrounding them with love.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her warmth, and the joy she found in the simple moments spent with those she loved so deeply.
She is survived by her children, Richard Hobson, Pamela Sharp and her husband Dennis with whom she made her home, and Michele Spooner and her husband Brian; and her pride and joy, her 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Her family extends their sincerest gratitude to the medical team at The Pines of Bristol for their exceptional care and compassion. We will forever remember the devoted attention of her amazing nurses and CNAs who became her extended family, Meghan, Rebecca, Faith, Nicola, Damaris, Izeiah, Sophie, and Jusana, along with her Brighton Hospice nurses, Katie, Michelle and Kesha.
In lieu of flowers, Sandra may be remembered with contributions to the Alzheimer's and Dementia Foundation at http://www.alzdn.org
