Rose M. (Thibodeau) Mercer, 91, loving wife, mother, and friend, of Plainville passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2023 at Bristol Hospital. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert F. Mercer, and her cherished daughter, Christina M. Mercer, who both predeceased her in 2018.
Rose was born on May 16, 1932 in Saint Francis, Maine daughter to the late Daniel and Rebecca (Jandreau) Thibodeau. Rose grew up in Maine and was the youngest of six children in her family. She attended schools in Maine and after her marriage to Bob, they settled in Plainville, where they resided for many years and raised their daughter. Rose worked as an assembler for Superior Electric for several years, however, being a wife and mother was Rose’s most treasured role in life. Family was the center of her world and she was undeniably proud of all her daughter and husband’s accomplishments. Rose had a profound love for animals and treated the family pets as her babies. She had a love for the outdoors and spent many hours in her garden, enjoying the fresh air and the beauty of the colorful flowers. Rose was a bit of a spit fire at times with a spunky personality and a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed as those she leaves behind take comfort in knowing she is reunited with the two most important people in her life, Bob and Chrissy, with whom she has yearned to reunite with.
Rose was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Mercer, her daughter, Christina M. Mercer, her parents, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her friends who became family, Roberta Lauria and her husband, Anthony and their son, Billy, several nieces and nephews, and her furry companion, Tiger Lily.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, January 12, 2023 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street, Plainville. Rose will be laid to rest with her husband and daughter in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Plainville. Donations in memory of Rose may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church c/o Parish Center, 19 S.
