Rose Chrescienza (Mancini) Ciccio, a pillar of strength and love in our community, was called home by the Lord on September 11, 2023. Reunited with her beloved husband of 68 years, Joseph Ciccio, they spent just 5 short months apart.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Lucy (Salvatore) Mancini, and sister to the late Alexander Mancini. Born and raised in Plainville, Rose dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and the betterment of those around her. A graduate of Plainville High School, Rose made her first strides into the world of work at General Electric, demonstrating from an early age her indomitable spirit. Through her partnership with Joe she was the vibrant force behind Ciccio Homes, while also managing their rental properties with kindness and grace for over 40 years.
Rose was a woman of faith, a devout Catholic who served her lifelong parish, Our Lady of Mercy, as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion. Her service wasn't confined to the altar alone, for she was a committed volunteer in countless capacities, creating a strong circle of friends along the way.
She was an anchor for her family, raising her daughter and best friend Rosanne and sharing a remarkable bond with her beloved granddaughter Olivia Santostefano. Rose supported her daughter's equestrian dreams with unwavering love, proving time and again that a mother's support knows no bounds.
Rose and Joe were Florida snowbirds for over 50 years, making friends and leaving footprints of love in the sands of the Sunshine State. She was a woman of beauty, both inside and out, a beacon of unconditional love and non-judgment. Many found solace in her presence, for she was the go-to ear that listened without prejudice, a natural caregiver whose gentleness brought joy to so many.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosanne Ciccio and her partner Kevin Hughes; her granddaughter Olivia Santostefano; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends, including her special caretakers, Leona, Anna, Brandi, Jasna, and Zejna whose exceptional care and love will forever be cherished.
Rose’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the medical and patient care staff at the Jefferson House in Newington for their tremendous care during her brief stay.
In lieu of flowers, Rose’s faith and dedication to her church may be remembered with contributions to Our Lady of Mercy, 19 S. Canal St, Plainville, CT 06062.
