Ronald William McClellan, 72 of Plainville, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, August 30, 2021, following a brief illness.
Born in New Britain on July 12, 1949, he was one of three sons to the late George and Gladys (Munson) McClellan. A 1967 graduate and star athlete of Plainville High School, Ron’s love for sports, especially baseball, was lifelong. A die hard Yankees fan, his knowledge of stats and facts on the team was unprecedented. Ron was master craftsman, well known and sought after for his award winning restoration of churches and steeples, where he was happiest practicing his trade. Devoted husband of 35 years to Barbara (Mazur), Ron was great father and provider for his family, all who looked forward to his annual Thanksgiving feast and harvesting from his garden. Remembered for his zest for life, sense of adventure and infectious humor, he leaves many cherished memories of love and laughter.
In addition to his wife Barbara, he leaves his sons, Michael (Yvonne Hickey), Marcus (Kimberly), Kevin (Tammy) and Matthew; and was the proud Grampie to his six grandchildren, Marcus, Laura, Nick, Greg, Julianna, and Jake and his great-granddaughter Kara. He also leaves his brothers Bruce (Kim) and Barry (Mary); and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Ron may be remembered with contributions to the Congregational Church of Plainville (UCC) Book of Remembrance, 130 W. Main St, Plainville, CT 06062 or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 711 Russel Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
