Robertine Tomcak Obituary

Robertine M. (Charette) Tomcak, 72, of Plainville, passed away after a brief illness on December 8, 2021 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was the loving wife of Frank Tomcak.

Robertine was born on November 16, 1949 in Fort Kent, ME daughter to the late Alex and Delina (LaFrance) Charette. She worked at Newcomb Spring as a shipping and receiving manager for several years until her retirement, although her work never truly ended. Full of life with a go-getter personality, Robertine continued to work throughout her retirement in various capacities, including her favorite job of working alongside her son, Adrien, on his race car and at the race track tirelessly week after week for several hours, not afraid to get her hands dirty or get under the car to assist. She also enjoyed being a jewelry assistant to her daughter and best friend, Paula, where she found entertainment in interacting with others and modeling pieces. She had a heart of gold and her passion for helping others was incomparable as she helped anyone who she saw was in need, no matter what it was she had to offer. Gathering with family and friends was something she always looked forward to and she was an extraordinary host. Family was the center of Robertine’s world and she was blessed to be able to spend Monday night family dinners relishing in food, love, and laughter. She had a bold, witty sense of humor, always pulling pranks on loved ones with an infectious laugh that could lead one into tears. Robertine loved crafting, decorating, building things and homemaking, but also had a thrilling side to her that brought her to find happiness in motorcycle riding and travelling. A realist, she indulged in watching shows or movies based on true events when she wasn’t busy helping others. Robertine has made a positive impact on many lives throughout her lifetime and her family will continue to carry on her legacy of love, generosity, and spunk as they cherish the many fond memories they have shared with her over the years.

Robertine is survived by her husband, Frank Tomcak; her children, Adrien J. Paradis III and his wife, Sue, Tracie Gallahan and her husband, John, Lisa Carrier and her husband, Roger, Allen Paradis, Paula Winters, Wayne Paradis and his wife, Beth, Frank Tomcak Jr. and his wife, Barbara, Rose Fox and her husband, Mike; her grandchildren, AJ Paradis, Chelsey Campbell, and Leigha Moore; her great-grandson, Carter Moore; 13 step grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren; her sister, Geraldine Wilcox and her husband, Vinal; her brothers, Leo Charette and his wife, Irene, and Dana Charette and his wife, Linda; her sister-in-law, Faye Charette; and her special friends, Denise Hoyt, Mel Brokaw, and Brenda and Lionel Bernard. She also leaves behind her dog, Bella, who was her loving companion and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her siblings, Melford Charette, Mildred Walker, Winneford Robinson, Clifford Charette, Alex Charette Jr., and Altine Charette.

A service in celebration of Robertine’s life will be held at a later date to be announced.
