Robert "Bobby" Snyder Obituary

Robert "Bobby" Snyder, 70, cherished father, brother and friend to all, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2024 at Hartford Hospital following a brief illness. Bobby lived life with passion, generosity, and a contagious zest for living.

Born on October 15, 1953 in Bristol, Bobby was one of seven children to the late Earl C. “Tickey” Snyder, Sr. and Etta L. (Swett) Snyder. Bobby grew up in Plainville and graduated from Plainville High School Class of 1973, where he forged lifelong friendships and left a lasting impact on all who knew him. If you asked Bobby where he attended school, he would tell you the “Vaseline U,” as he slid right through. Bobby was known for his vibrant personality and love for social gatherings. The life of the party, with his quick wit and great sense of humor, he always brought joy and laughter to those around him. He cherished the moments spent with his loved ones and found joy in their company. Family was paramount to Bobby, and the bonds he shared with his loved ones were unparalleled.

Throughout his years, Bobby excelled in his trade as a roofer as the owner and operator of R & S Roofing and thrived in the greenery of a greenhouse, boasting a remarkable green thumb. Robert had a deep passion for gardening, dedicating much of his life to cultivating beautiful plants and flowers. Known for his generosity and warm heart, Bobby was always willing to extend a helping hand to those in need, leaving a lasting impact on all those who crossed his path.

A true outdoorsman, Bobby found solace and joy in his fishing adventures at the Farmington River, impressing fellow anglers with his skills and passion for the sport. His love for travel took him to many corners of the globe, where he embraced new experiences and made lasting memories. A master woodworker, Bobby poured his creativity into crafting intricate pieces, including beautiful shadow boxes, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by his children for years to come. He enjoyed tinkering and working on various projects.

As a dedicated sports fan, Bobby's enthusiasm for his teams knew no bounds, always ready to engage in spirited debates defending his favorite teams. His devotion to the Red Sox, Celtics and UConn Huskies was undeniable, always ready to defend their title as the best in the league. Bobby was an all-state athlete in basketball. Bobby also spent 40 years playing and then following his two sons around the slow-pitch softball circuit, forming many lifelong friendships through the game.

Bobby will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends, and his legacy will live on through those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his children, Ryan Snyder and his wife, Amanda, Mike Snyder and his girlfriend, Krystal Michelson, and Emma Andy; his longtime girlfriend, Nancy Buden; his siblings, Lawrence “Larry” Snyder and his wife, Martha, Gloria Hartke and her husband, Steven, David “Dave” Snyder and his wife, Brenda, and Janet Snyder; his grandchildren, Roarke, Rowyn, Parker and Zoey Snyder; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and a large circle of friends. In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by his siblings, Earl C. Snyder, Jr. and Susan Snyder.
