Robert "Bobby" F. Brown

Robert “Bobby” Brown, 82, of Plainville, CT, and Palm Bay, FL, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the VA Healthcare Center in West Haven, surrounded by the love of his family after a brief battle with brain cancer. He was the loving husband of 46 years to Alice (Picard) Brown.

Born on August 18, 1943, in New Britain, Connecticut, Bobby was the son of the late Janet (Carlone) Post and Frank Brown. From an early age, he embraced life with determination, strength, and an adventurous spirit—qualities that would define him throughout his life.

Bobby proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the legendary 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War. He was later recognized as a disabled veteran due to injuries sustained during his military service. Although his time in the Army came with great sacrifice, it also brought him some of his fondest memories. He especially enjoyed boxing for the Army, baseball and playing football, and his passion for the sport continued long after his service when he played semi-professional football for the Hartford Charter Oaks.

Following his military career, Bobby dedicated many years of service to the City of New Britain. A man of many talents, he served in several roles throughout his career, including City Arborist and later Superintendent of Fairview Cemetery. He took great pride in his work, earning the respect of those around him before retiring after many years of devoted service.

Outside of work, Bobby embraced every opportunity to enjoy life. He was an avid car and Harley Davidson enthusiast, loved discovering hidden-gem diners and restaurants, and never passed up a great meal. He remained active throughout his life, taking daily bike rides with his signature smile and exercising regularly until his illness. Bobby also had a keen sense of style and was always impeccably dressed.

One of Bobby's greatest joys was traveling with his family, especially his beloved wife. Together, they happily embraced the snowbird lifestyle, spending summers in Connecticut and winters in Florida, creating countless treasured memories along the way.

Bobby truly cherished his family. His greatest love was his wife, with whom he built a beautiful life centered on family. Creating a legacy that grew to include generations of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each one bringing him immeasurable pride, joy, and countless cherished memories. He often said he considered himself a fortunate man who had lived a truly blessed life. His kindness, strength, sense of humor, and love for those closest to him will be remembered always, and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Bobby is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Alice Brown; his children, Eric Brown, Rebecca Brown, Darren Brown, Darcy Brown, Kellyann Kosma, and Ashley Pedersen; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Donald Brown, Marybeth Traynor, and Jack McCleland; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Janice Petrucci, Marilyn Post and Kevin McCleland.

Family and friends are welcome to gather at the celebration of Bobby’s life on Monday, August 31 from 5 to 7 PM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. Bobby will be laid to rest privately with full military honors at the CT State Veterans Cemetery.
