Robert Rivera, Sr.

 Robert Rivera, Sr., 53, devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend, left his family and friends heartbroken following his passing on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Hospital of Central CT New Britain General Campus, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband to Madelyn (Buitrago) Rivera and together they shared 30 years of pure love and friendship, full of laughter and fun times.

Robert was born on May 16, 1968 in New Britain, son of Luis M. and Ramonita (Alicea) Rivera. He grew up in New Britain, attended local schools and went on to pursue a successful career in HVAC, most recently employed by Local 40. Robert was a selfless and generous man, devoted to his family, friends, and the people who surrounded him. He was the kind of man who would help anyone and everyone that needed a hand, without a doubt. Robert enjoyed the outdoors, always up for grabbing his pole to go out fishing, a hobby he most cherished with his sons by his side. He loved to socialize and listen to all different genres of music, especially Jazz. Known for his infectious and outgoing personality, Robert will be missed tremendously as his family carries on the many memories they have shared over the years, leaving behind many jokes, laughs, and worthy advice. 

In addition to his wife, Madelyn, and his parents, Luis and Ramonita, Robert leaves behind his pride and joy, his two sons, Robert Rivera, Jr. and Timothy Rivera; his brother, George Rivera and his wife, Holy; his sisters Damaris and Miriam Rivera; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and a large circle of friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Thursday, May 12 from 5 to 7 PM at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A service in celebration of Robert’s life will begin on Friday, May 13 at 11 am at the funeral home. Guests are welcome to arrive at the funeral home at 10:30 AM on Friday prior to the service beginning.
