Robert Lizotte Obituary

Robert Joseph Lizotte, 82, of Newington passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025 after a brief illness. Bob was born on December 27, 1942, to William and Cecile (Vashon) Lizotte, in Waterville, Maine. Bob spent his youth in Waterville, moving to Connecticut in his early twenties.

For many years, Bob worked at Schaefer Brewing Company in Newington. To keep busy, as well as to support his love for his antique cars, which always had costly repairs, Bob also worked evenings at The Hartford Courant. Bob was an excellent typist and prided himself on his abilities. Bob ended his career working at Standard Mattress in Hartford as an account specialist.

In September 1969, he married Nanne Edmonds. Bob and Nanne remained married until her untimely passing at the young age of 51 in 1996. Nanne’s family took Bob into their loving care for the remainder of his life. We enjoyed his great story telling skills which he accompanied with his hands as if conducting an orchestra.

There wasn’t a pizza that Bob didn’t like thus giving him the nickname Pizza Bob. If given a choice, Bob would have lived on pizza, hot dogs and beans, and any kind of pie/pastry. He loved food, but was not a gourmet!

Bob loved television and the movies He could be found daily watching The Price is Right and the soap opera The Bold and Beautiful, a fact Bob himself wanted included in his “obit”. He watched horror movies through shielded eyes (especially all things Hitchcock) and he watched every version of the Titanic movie over and over again until he could even recite lines.

He loved to ice fish on Amston Lake where he and Nanne owned a summer cottage. He would drive to the lake on Friday nights to spend his weekend reading a good paperback on the deck, and sailing, canoeing or rowing around the lake. After the cottage was sold, Bob enjoyed his summer trips to Maine to stay at camp with his cousin Patty. He enjoyed going to bean suppers at Grange Halls while visiting his beloved Maine.

Bob had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Over the years, he shared his life with Pepper, Ky Ling, Penh, Jake, Gemma, Max and most recently with Cody. When he and Nanne were first married, they shared their bathroom with their litter box trained rabbit named Cecil.

To mourn his passing and celebrate his life, Bob leaves behind his goddaughter and special love, niece Brittany Gauthier, who affectionately called him “Big Guy”. They shared many, many happy times together. Additionally, he leaves behind brothers and sisters-in-law Brian Hinton, Sally (Jack) Callahan, Janne (Mark) Gauthier, and Daniel Balistierri; 4 nephews, 7 nieces, 3 great nephews, 7 great nieces and his cousins.

Bob was predeceased by his parents Bill and Cecile, his wife Nanne, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Hinton, Susan Balistierri and Joan Edmonds.

Honoring Bob's wishes, his life will be celebrated with private funeral services.  He will be laid to rest in Maine at a later date.  The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Bob's family for their trust.  For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com
