Robert R. Demers, 87, of Bristol, beloved husband of Murielle (Roy) Demers, died after a long illness on Monday July 6, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born on September 14, 1938, in Minot, ME and was the son of the late Henry and Alvenise (LaFlamme) Demers.
Robert lived in Maine until he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, proudly serving his country for three years. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to Maine and moved to Lewiston, where he met his future wife, Murielle. After they married and had their first two children, Robert had an opportunity to get a job in Connecticut and moved his family to Bristol.
Robert spent 21years working at Marlin Rockwell/TRW. He worked for Oak Hill School as a Janitor at their group homes in Burlington for 7 years and then the remainder of his working life at New Horizons in Farmington.
Robert enjoyed playing cards, but he really enjoyed playing cribbage, teaching the game to his children and a couple of his grandchildren, a pastime that brought him relaxation and pleasure. Robert was a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Giants fan. He loved spending time with his family, and appreciated the simple moments that made his life full and memorable.
In addition to his loving wife of 65 years, Robert is survived by four children: Debra Costanzo and husband, James of Bristol, Carol Pacitto and husband, Christopher of Bristol, Randy Demers and wife, Monica of Bristol, and Donald Demers and wife Karla of Bristol; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his three brothers: Leo, Gaston and Raymond Demers and one sister Connie (Demers) Gootee.
Our hearts are heavy with loss; we find comfort in the many memories he leaves with all who knew him. He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
Our family is ever so thankful and grateful to Village Green of Bristol and Beacon Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave to our father. You will be forever in our hearts! Thank You!
