Robert Joseph Cyr, 80 of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14, 2024. A devoted Husband, Father and Pepére, Bob’s life was one marked by dedication, hard work, and steadfast love for his family.
Born on March 31, 1944 in Edmonston, New Brunswick, Canada, Bob’s journey led him to northern Maine, where he met the love of his life, Francoise, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. Following his service to our country in the US Army during Vietnam, they settled in Plainville where they raised their family and were longtime members of Our Lady of Mercy Church. From his earlier days as a truck driver to retiring as a skilled machinist in New Britain Bob poured his heart and soul into providing for his loved ones. Bob reveled in spending time with Fran their children, and grandchildren. He and Fran crafted intricate wood figurines and plastic canvas creations, taking great pride in their extensive Christmas village, meticulously built over years. In retirement, Bob and Fran enjoyed their travels, exploring new places together, as his passion for reading continued to enrich his life. He is now at peace and will forever remain a shining example of love, perseverance and devotion to his family.
In addition to his wife Fran, he leaves his children, Veronica Grasso and her husband Joseph, Sean Cyr and his wife Michele, and Mark Cyr; his grandchildren, Ryan, Craig, Reece, Kyle, Jeremy, and Nicole; his sister Georgette Roy; his brothers, Jeneal, Jacques, and George Cyr; along with many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Bob may be remembered with contributions to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or http://www.stjude.org
