Rene “Rocky” Joseph Bastille, Jr., loving husband, father, and grandfather, 59, lifetime resident of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on August 19, 2021 at the Southington Care Center after a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Ginger (Meeker) Bastille for 36 years.
Rocky was born on June 24, 1962 in Southington, CT, son to the late Rene J. Bastille Sr. and Ada (Albee) Bastille. He grew up in Plainville attended local schools, graduating from Plainville High School as the “Captain of the Beer Team” in 1981. He previously worked as a manufacturing supervisor at Pratt-Read Corp in Bridgeport for many years where he used his talents to help the company excel and made many lasting friendships with his colleagues. He was a handy man who aspired to be the jack-of-all trades. Although he wasn’t a master of all, he found enjoyment in tinkering with things and figuring out how they operate or how to fix them. Rocky was a motorcycle and VW enthusiast and enjoyed watching NASCAR races. He had a witty personality with a huge heart who loved his family deeply, especially his grandchildren who he absolutely adored. Always remembered for his unconditional love and bold personality, Rocky’s family and circle of friends will miss him tremendously as they carry on his legacy.
In addition to his wife, Ginger, Rocky is survived by his son, Ryan Bastille and his wife, Bethany and their children, Raelynn and Ryan Jr., of Plainville; his daughter, Rachel Heslin and her husband, Thomas and their children, Roen and Rex, of Plainville; his brother, John Miville; his sisters, Sherri Bolduc and Debby Emmendorfer and her husband, Steve; his nieces and nephews, Julian and Gunnar Bolduc, Carissa, Brandon, R.J., and Jamis Miville, and Briana, Cheyenne and Daniel Emmendorfer. He also leaves behind his best friend and fur-daughter, Kami, who worshipped Rene. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Gratien Bolduc.
Family and friends are welcome to gather in celebration of Rene’s life on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 4 to 6 PM at the Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Bastille family for their trust.
