Randall E. “Randy” Sturgeon, 74, of Bristol, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Randy was born one of three children on July 23, 1951 in New Britain, CT son to the late Clifford and Ruth (Bartlett) Sturgeon. He was raised and educated in Plainville, graduating from Plainville High School in the Class of 1969.
After high school, Randy proudly enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he honorably served his country. His remarkable talent for learning languages, particularly Chinese, set him apart during his service, enabling him to translate and communicate effectively within his roles. This intelligence and dedication followed him into his career in the manufacturing sector, where he spent many years in the shipping and receiving department for various local companies.
Randy was a man of quiet strength and profound intellect, often found enjoying the peace of the Plainville and Bristol libraries or simply taking a walk around town. Later in life, he frequented the Bristol Senior Center.
Randy is survived by his sister, Maureen Rich and her husband, Geoffrey, of Portland, his brother, Terry Sturgeon and his wife, Kathy, of Plantsville, his nieces and nephews, Darlene Fazzino and her husband, Bill, along with their children, Rebecca and Nathan, Jeffrey Steadman and his partner, Shannon, along with Jeffrey’s children, Colin and Eric, and Andrea Cofrancesco and her husband, Chuck, along with their children, Gabriel, Mary and John.
Services in celebration of Randy’s life will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
