Philip S. Coco

Philip Samuel Coco Sr., 82, of Bristol, Connecticut, passed away peacefully, surrounded by close family and friends, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories.

Born on April 16, 1944, Philip was the son of the late Salvatore and Pasqualine Coco-Cardella, and the stepson of the late Samuel Cardella.

Philip shared a loving life with his beloved wife, Karen (Rio) Coco married for 60 years. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Stacy Coco, and his son, Philip S. Coco Jr., and a proud father-in-law to Denise Coco. He was a cherished (Papa) grandfather to Dante and Mason and was delighted to welcome Dante’s fiancée, Abby Palmieri, into the family. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Calvo-Poplawski, along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Family was at the center of Philip’s life. For more than 20 years, he enjoyed annual family vacations in Ogunquit, Maine, creating traditions and countless treasured memories with cousins, nieces, nephews, children, and grandchildren. He looked forward to every opportunity to celebrate life’s milestones, whether it was a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or simple family gathering. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by those he loved.

Philip enjoyed a long and respected career as a Tool and Die Maker, dedicating more than 40 years of skilled craftsmanship to General Electric and Stanley Works. He took great pride in his work and earned the respect of his colleagues through his knowledge, precision, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Philip loved tinkering with cars and had a natural curiosity about how things worked. He could often be found fixing, building, or improving something, always eager to solve a problem or lend a helping hand. His mechanical talents were matched by his patience, generosity, and willingness to share his knowledge with others.

Philip will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on through the traditions he created, the values he instilled, and the love he shared so freely.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to MR Homecare, especially Phil’s personal aide, Tessie Rios, and to Franciscan Homecare & Hospice Care for the compassionate, dedicated, and exceptional care they provided during Phil’s final days. Your kindness, comfort, and unwavering support brought peace not only to Phil but also to our family during this difficult time. We are forever grateful for the dignity, respect, and love you showed him.
