Paul Mancarella, 82, beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut- New Britain General Campus. He is now reunited with his High School sweetheart and the love of his life, Josephine “Joyce” A. (Gionfriddo) Mancarella, who predeceased him in March of this year.
Paul was born in New Britain on May 5th, 1943, the last surviving of three children to the late John and Lucy (Capodice) Mancarella. His early life was marked by the thrill of youth and a natural talent for athletics. Growing up in New Britain, Paul became a celebrated star player on the baseball field while attending New Britain High School. With the love of the game always close to his heart, Paul channeled his competitive spirit into cheering on his favorite teams, the Boston Red Sox and the UCONN Huskies.
Paul proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years, embodying the values of duty and service to his country. A passionate Veteran, he carried the spirit of camaraderie and dedication throughout his life. Those who knew Paul will remember him as the kindest, gentlest, and sweetest soul – a man who always put the needs of others before his own.
After earning a degree in accounting, Paul devoted many years of his life to his profession at General Electric. He embraced a new chapter in his life by owning and operating All Seasons Spirit Shop, formally located on East Street in Plainville, alongside his wife, and at times, their children. The family business brought him immense joy, creating a welcoming space for the community that they served with pride.
Paul leaves his children, Janice Portlock and her husband, Thomas, Lori Plumley and her husband, Samuel, Jeffery Mancarella and his husband, Todd; his four adored grandchildren, Jack and Brynn Portlock and Parker and Bailee Plumley. In addition to his wife, Josephine, Paul was predeceased by his brother, John Mancarella and his sister, Ann Nigro.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Saturday, November 8, 2025 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville.
