Paul Wilfred Lepore, of Santa Rosa, California, died on April 23, 2023, his 73rd birthday. Paul was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on April 23, 1950, to Rita (Renaud) and Joseph Lepore. He grew up in Plainville, Connecticut, with his three sisters, graduating from Plainville High School in 1968 before attending Clark University. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in geography, Paul moved out west, eventually settling in the San Francisco area. He worked as an eligibility case worker for the County of Sonoma and also served as a substitute teacher in the county school district. It was here that he met his partner of 29 years, Michael Crawford. The couple loved living among the redwoods in Guerneville and spent their time gardening, going to live concerts and theater productions, and lounging with their cats. Paul was a big fan of college basketball, always eager to discuss the chances each team had in the tournament, especially if he had a friend or relative attend that specific school. He wasn’t afraid to talk politics, but always found a way to make even the most serious discussions end with a shared laugh. Paul loved music, and could often be heard singing aloud to his favorite songs, to which those who knew him can attest. Paul is survived by his three sisters, Carmela (Randy) Doucette, Celeste (Howard) Norup, and Joan Lepore-Hushin; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; the extended Renaud and Lepore families; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents and partner Michael. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, June 23 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, located at 94 Broad St., Plainville, CT. A burial will take place immediately after at St. Joseph Cemetery in Plainville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and/or Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods. The family would like to thank Bridge Hospice and Eden and her staff at Emmanuel Home and Sunset Gardens II for all the care they gave to Paul during his stay.
