Patricia "Pat" LeBrun Obituary

Patricia “Pat” Julie (Zwick) LeBrun, 82, of Plainville, passed away peacefully snuggled up in the comfort of her bed at home early morning on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, with her youngest daughter by her side. She is now reunited with her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Raymond P. LeBrun, who predeceased her in 2012. Together they are rejoicing in their reunion in the warmth of sun, listening to oldies, and sharing a can of Diet Pepsi with a straw.

Patricia was born on April 26, 1941 in New Britain, CT, the only child to the late George and Frances (Nevers) Zwick. Patricia was raised in New Britain and worked hard for everything she achieved.

At the young age of 16, Pat fell completely in love and married her soulmate, Ray, who she was set to spend the rest of her life with. Together, through thick and thin, they appreciated and loved every moment together and built a family on the foundation of loyalty, trust and never-ending love and faith. They lived in Southington, for many years, where they raised their family and often times helped care for their grandchildren, instilling in them work hard, play hard. Husk the corn, rake the leaves, then you can go swimming in the pool. Pat and Ray moved to Plainville where they continued to help raise generations to follow.

A natural at caregiving, Pat worked as a Nurses Tech throughout her career, retiring from New Britain General Hospital, after over 20 years of dedication to her profession, all while raising a family of five children. She was well-respected and adored by her colleagues, enjoying every second on the job.

In retirement, Pat and Ray spent many summers at their second home at Grove Point Beach in Westbrook, where many family gatherings, traditional Fourth of July picnics, and uncountable, forever cherished memories were shared with all. The beach was her absolute favorite place to be. There is no doubt that is where she’s spending eternity with her husband.

Pat was a devout Catholic who prayed daily; the Rosary, Novenas, St. Anthony when anything was lost and impromptu prayers for family, friends, and for anyone in their time of need or for good luck. She was a founding member of the Church of Saint Dominic in Southington, where she was so happy to see the success of the church, to this day, and her grandchildren make their sacraments there.

Pat found solace in being in the kitchen and was a master at any meal or dessert she set her mind to, sharing her specialties and gourmet meals with all who were welcome into her home, which was anyone and everyone. She never would let anyone enter or leave her house hungry; even if you weren’t hungry, she didn’t believe it or she would state the famous words of “I’ll make you a to-go plate.”

A true fashionista, Pat loved shopping and would always be dressed her best even if she wasn’t leaving the house for the day. Her stylish ways impressed everyone as she always had complimenting jewelry, shoes and handbags, even wallets, to pull the entire outfit together. Interior design was also her forte; she always kept a tidy house decorated for each season, inside and out. She had an eye for decor and was always up with the latest trends.

Above all, with her bubbly, social butterfly personality, she relished in the company of others. She absolutely cherished every moment spent with her family, friends and often engaged in small talk with someone she just met that day. Pat was a people’s person, a mom and friend to all, and someone you could always confide in. To say she will be missed tremendously, doesn’t even sum up the words. Her fiercely independent spirit, sassy demeanor and infectious laugh and bright smile will always be remembered fondly.

Leaving her family completely heartbroken, but with so many unforgettable memories, Pat leaves behind her children: Kimberly Altieri, of Middletown, Raymond LeBrun and his wife, Marie, of Plainville, Robin Trujillo and her husband, Joseph, of Southington, Tammy Small and her husband, Steven, of Burlington, and her daughter aka her buddy, Alicia LeBrun and her partner, Jack Pecego, of Plainville; her 18 adored grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Richard Zwick and his wife, Michelle; her bonus daughters, Lisa Malarney, of Plainville, and Chrissy Malarney, of Southington; her former colleague and friend, John Tyropolis, of Newington; and many extended family members and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Christina Zwick, her son-in-law, Richard Altieri, her great-granddaughter, Ava Kosky, her best friends, John and Lucy Malarney and several other family members and friends.

Family and friends are welcome to gather in celebration of Pat’s life on Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 9 to 10 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A prayer service will be held at 10 AM at the funeral home. Pat will be laid to rest with her husband, Ray, in Saint Thomas Cemetery in Southington following the service.
