Patricia A. (Locke) Ferguson

Patricia A. (Locke) Ferguson, of Plainville, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, July 6, 2026. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, David Ferguson, who predeceased her in 2007.

Born on October 29, 1938, in Altus, Oklahoma, Patricia was one of six children born to the late Ernest and Mary (Halcomb) Locke. She was raised and educated in Oklahoma before making Plainville her home following her marriage to David, where together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy came from her family. She lovingly raised five children and treasured watching her family grow for two more generations. Known affectionately as "Mimi," she cherished every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating lasting memories during family vacations and gatherings. Among her favorite memories were the special trips she and David shared to Cape Cod, where they found peace and happiness by the beach.

For more than thirty years, Patricia worked as a medical assistant for Dr. Belman, an orthopedic surgeon in New Britain. She took great pride in her work and formed lifelong friendships with her coworkers, who became like a second family.

An energetic and ambitious woman, Patricia embraced every project with determination. She was an accomplished do-it-yourselfer who never shied away from a challenge and found great satisfaction in making things beautiful. She had a remarkable talent for gardening and landscaping, filling her yard with colorful flowers, thriving plants, and trees she carefully nurtured over the years. She also had a wonderful eye for home decorating, creating a warm and welcoming home where family always came first.

Patricia will be remembered for her strength, kindness, and devotion to those she loved. Her greatest accomplishment was the family she cherished so deeply, and the love she shared will continue to live on in each of them.

She is survived by her children, Robert Ferguson, Linda Burbige and her husband Ed, Laura Hughes, and Greta Welz; her daughter-in-law Joanne Ferguson; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  She also leaves her sisters, Vickie and Judy, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her son, David “Kenny” Ferguson, her son-in-law Brian Welz, her brothers Carl and Darvin and her sister Geraldine.
