Norman J. Letourneau, Jr., 88, formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Mary Home in West Hartford, surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his beloved wife and lifelong best friend, Barbara (White) Letourneau, who passed away in 2022. Together, they shared 65 wonderful years of marriage and love.
Norman was born on June 18, 1937, in Waterville, Maine, son to the late Gladys (Roy) and Norman Letourneau, Sr. Norman and Barbara first met in Maine while working at a chicken processing plant and settled in Plainville more than 50 years ago. There, they raised their four children and took great joy in watching their family grow through two additional generations. After more than 38 years of dedicated service, Norman retired from Stanley Tools in New Britain, where he worked as a quality control inspector.
Norman enjoyed visits to the casino and trying his luck with scratch-off tickets, but his greatest joy was always his family. Norman treasured the many memories created through camping trips, family vacations, time spent at the beach, and especially the weekly Sunday dinners when everyone gathered together. An avid gardener, he spent countless hours tending to the vegetable garden and enjoying the fruits of his labor. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, bowling, and challenging jigsaw puzzles. Norman will be fondly remembered as a loving man with a wonderful personality who brought warmth and joy to everyone around him.
Norman is survived by his children, Norman “David” (Karen) Letourneau, Lisa (Robert) Gaber, and Tina (Mark) Pandolfo; his son-in-law, Gary Tetro; his grandchildren, Melissa (John) Gwizd and their children, Zachary, Jayden and Destiny; Nicholas (Chantal) Tetro and their children Tanner, Ryder, and Carter; Robert (Cindy) Gaber and their son Abel; Jessica Letourneau, Michelle Gaber (Mark Dryden) and Matthew and Ryan Pandolfo; his sister, Shirley Rowe; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his daughter, Debi Tetro, his grandson, David Letourneau, his brother, Richard Letourneau, and his sisters, Joan Short and Jacqueline Vigue.
In lieu of flowers, Norman may be remembered with contributions to the Make a Wish CT at http://www.ct.wish.org or 56 Commerce Dr. Trumbull, CT 06611.
A celebration of Norman’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville. Family and friends may gather one hour before, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. For online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com.
