Naomi Jane (Baker) Goldsmith, 92, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased by her devoted and loving husband, Dean Alfred Goldsmith, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.
Naomi was born on April 4, 1931 in Plainville, CT. She was the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Valley) Baker. After graduating from Mary Immaculate Academy, she worked at Russell and Erwin Manufacturing and Middle Atlantic Trucking Company. Naomi’s favorite activity was reading romance novels and, in her later years, watching Hallmark movies because they “always have a happy ending.” She loved family vacations in Florida and West Dennis, MA where she always wanted to “pack a lunch and explore.” She loved listening to and conversing with friends and family who would come to visit her. In her later years this was especially true, as they were her connection to the world outside her home.
Naomi is survived by her children, Barbara Abbott, Edward Goldsmith (Lorri), Sharon LeSuer (Stephen), all of Plainville, Karen Rodjenski (Tom), of Bristol; her grandchildren, Alex Grandy (Annie), Nick Grandy (Chrissy), Lauren Grandy (Kevin), Jillian Goldsmith (Andrew), Abby Goldsmith (Ryan), Megan Pushard (Alycia), Allison (Petit-LeSuer) Spurr (Casey), Jenna, Jake, and Emma Rodjenski; and her great-grandchildren, Jackson and Hannah Grandy, and Nora Grandy. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joan Barilari and Barbara Buchanan, of North Carolina, several nieces and nephews; and her life-long friend, Ruth Mantak, with whom she shared many fun times. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edward and Richard, her sister-in-law, Shirley Goldsmith, her brothers-in-law, Alden Goldsmith, Walter Barilari and James Buchanan, and her son-in-law, Ronald Abbott.
The family wishes to thank the Hartford Healthcare Hospice Staff, especially Kathleen, Sharon, and Kelly for their wonderful and compassionate care; and Tracie LaRue of Hartford Healthcare Medical Group - Reach Program.
