Nancy Eberhardt Obituary

Nancy M. Eberhardt, 78 of Plainville, passed away following a brief illness on Thursday August 12, 2021.

Born in Hartford she was one of two children to the late Frederick and Greta (Johnson) Eberhardt.  Nancy was raised and educated in Palmer, Massachusetts, and received her Bachelor’s Degree from The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, where she made many lifelong friends.  She moved to Plainville in the mid 1960’s, earned her Master’s Degree from CCSU and became an educator for the New Britain School System from where she retired after 35 years.  A dedicated volunteer of the Plainville Historical Society for more than 30 years, she proudly served as the current President, helping to preserve, inspire, and educate others of local history.  A woman of strong Christian faith, Nancy was a longtime member of the First Lutheran Church of Southington where she brought love and care to others as a Stephen Minister.  A lover of the outdoors, Nancy was happiest when she was camping and made annual trips to Hammonasset Beach and campground for over 75 years.   She was truly a special woman, who will be missed and remembered for her kindheartedness and concern for others.

Nancy is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Bruce and Carolyn Eberhardt of New Britain; her nephew Eric Eberhardt and his children Marissa and Tyler Scimone; her nephew Timothy Eberhardt, his wife Lisa and their children River and Sawyer, her niece Kristen, her husband Timothy Wilk and their children Noah and Jameson, and her nephew Matthew Eberhardt.  She also leaves her best friends and Sisters in Christ, Dolores “Dee” Martin, Rose Stanley, and Lillian Sewell.

In lieu of flowers, Nancy may be remembered with contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, 3000 Whitney Ave., #121, Hamden, CT 06518 or http://www.kidney.org
