Moses Elijah Cryer, 59 of New Britain, passed away at his home on August 8, 2024. Born David A. Franckowski on May 22, 1965, he was the youngest child of the late Henry and Mary (Whitman) Franckowski. A high school graduate, Moses also attended classes at Tunxis Community College and Colorado Christian University.
Moses found solace in nature, spending summers in his youth at the family’s cottage on Coventry Lake where he created some of his favorite memories fishing, swimming and embracing the beauty of the outdoors. Moses loved his family and had a special bond with his paternal grandparents, Anna and Raymond Franckowski. His bond with his grandfather, who taught him patience, served as an important role model, and always called him “my little buddy,” was especially strong Moses’ love for his family was evident in his words and actions. He was close to his parents, assisting them in their later years, and kept in close communication with his siblings.
With his infectious laugh and captivating storytelling, Moses easily befriended anyone he encountered. A lover of literature and a published poet, he enjoyed reading, especially the Bible and cowboy westerns. Moses’ Christian faith and love of God was a cornerstone of his life. He engaged in ministry work to spread his beliefs and provided comfort to others. Moses had a big heart and also contributed to his community as a volunteer for various charities. A fan of Mr. Bean, he had a quirky sense of humor that endeared him to all. Moses will be greatly missed, but his loving spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Moses is survived by his brother, Carl Franckowski and his wife Carol; his sister Susan Lloyd and her husband Jack; and his nieces, Rebecca Harrison and her husband Steven, Sarah Franckowski and Jodie Lloyd. His family extends their gratitude to his many caretakers, most especially Stevie, with whom he shared a special bond.
