Modesta Michalek Wolak of Bristol, Connecticut passed away on November 24, 2024 at the age of 98. She was the adoring wife of the late Theodore Wolak and daughter of the late Stanley and Tekla Michalek of New Britain.
Modesta was a tiny spitfire of a woman. She was the epitome of a lifelong learner and cherished her membership in the National Honor Society. She was an avid reader and Jeopardy enthusiast. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and playing card games with the “ladies.” Modesta loved her family, neighbors and the joy and excitement they brought into her life.
Modesta is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leora and James Moquin of Bristol, her grandchildren, Tekla Moquin of Farmington, Brittany Moquin Carlascio and her husband Jeffrey of Prospect, and Ashley Wolak of Plainville, her great-grandchildren, Sophie Carlascio and Vinny Carlascio of Prospect, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Modesta was predeceased by her son, Wade Wolak, and her brother, Edwin “Mike” Michalek.
Services in celebration of Modesta’s life will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Modesta may be made to F.N.
