With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Michael Granquist on April 18, 2026, following a long illness. God has welcomed him home, and while his loss is deeply felt, we are grateful for the love, laughter, and memories he shared with so many.
Mike was born on April 2, 1958, and grew up in Bristol, Connecticut. He graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1977, where he was a proud member of the football team. He remained close with his coaches, teammates, and friends, forming lifelong friendships that stayed with him throughout his adult life. Mike had a rare gift for making friends easily, and wherever he went, he built meaningful connections that often turned into lasting friendships.
Mike’s love of woodworking shaped his career, leading him into carpentry and eventually to owning his own business. He was a man of many talents and interests, particularly known for his deep admiration for muscle cars and playing the guitar. Music filled his days with endless happiness.
In 1989, Mike married the love of his life, Debbie. Together they built a life filled with joy and companionship, sharing time with their beloved fur babies, most recently their beloved dog, Sunny.
Above all else, Mike will be remembered for his kind heart, generous spirit, and sense of humor. He was always willing to help anyone in need, and his love, friendship, and unforgettable bear hugs will live on in the hearts of many.
In addition to his wife, Debbie, Mike is survived by his brother, Gary; his uncle Robert and his aunt Peggy; his cousins, Kerri, Jeff, and Mark; his mother-in-law, Margaret; his sister-in-law, Laura, and her husband, Doug; his nephews, Gregory and Jason; his uncle Paul and his Aunt Sarasvati; and many close friends and neighbors who were like family to him. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Katharine, and his younger brother, William Jr.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held privately at a later date. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street extend their gratitude to the Granquist family for their trust. To leave online expressions of sympathy, please visit www.PlainvilleFuneralHome.com.
