Obituary

Meryl (Birmingham) Anziano, of Middletown, formerly of Meriden, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2023, just two days shy of her 78th birthday.

Born on July 26, 1945, in Meriden, Meryl was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Biesak) Birmingham.  Meryl was a longtime administrative assistant at Lane Construction Corporation in Meriden, where she was known for her dedication and hard work.

Meryl was a woman of many passions. She was a fervent New York Yankees fan, often seen sporting her team's colors and stripes, cheering them on with enthusiasm. Her love for animals was evident in her volunteer work at the Meriden Humane Society, where she dedicated countless hours in her younger years caring for animals in need. She was particularly fond of cats and dogs, and a "pit bull grandma" helping to raise a litter of puppies.  Her sociable and outgoing personality made her a favorite at local gatherings, where her infectious laughter could be heard ringing out during happy hour. Meryl was also a talented cook who enjoyed experimenting with new recipes and hosting fancy dinners for her loved ones. Her favorite vacation spot was Cape Cod, where she loved to bird watch, relax, soak up the sun and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Above all, Meryl was a woman who was devoted to her family. She is survived by her sons, Jonathan Mayer and Matthew Anziano, and her cherished grandchildren whose visits always brought a smile to her face, Justin Mayer, Alex and Alan Landfort, and Matthew Law.

Meryl was a friendly, loving, and spirited woman who lived her life with passion and joy. She had a knack for making everyone around her feel special and loved, and her warm, welcoming nature made her a joy to be around. Her zest for life was infectious, and she had a unique ability to find joy in the simple things.  Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.

In lieu of flowers, Meryl may be remembered with contributions to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Ave, Meriden, CT 06450
