Meda Moschini Obituary

Meda Lucille (Murphy) Moschini, a proud lifelong resident of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2026. She is now reunited with her beloved husband of fifty-five years, Natale "Sonny" Moschini, who predeceased her in 2015.

Born in New Britain on May 7, 1939, she was one of four children to the late John A. Murphy, Sr. and Jeannette (Fields) Murphy. Raised and educated in Plainville, Meda embodied the spirit of her hometown. She was a member of the Class of 1957, graduating as part of the first class to attend and graduate from the newly built Plainville High School.  She went on to work for the former Plainville Trust, and dedicated 25 years of employment to the Town of Plainville Public Works Department.  A familiar face throughout the community, she believed in supporting local businesses and neighbors, making it a point to shop local and give back to the town she loved.

S. Washington Street was not simply where Meda lived, it was where her life's story unfolded. Growing up next door to the young man who would become the love of her life, she eventually settled into his childhood home, where together they raised their three sons and had the joy of watching two more generations of their family grow, gathering often around the same table where countless meals and celebrations were shared.

Her greatest pride was her family. A devoted mother, Meda was the kind of parent who never sat on the sidelines. She served as a Den Mother, a dedicated band parent, and president of the Athletic Backers Club, enthusiastically supporting every practice, performance, game, and activity her boys pursued.

As the wife of a volunteer firefighter, Meda quietly served her community alongside her husband. For more than six decades, she proudly supported the Plainville Volunteer Fire Department as the wife, mother, and grandmother of firefighters, understanding the sacrifices and traditions that came with a family's commitment to public service. She was immensely proud of that legacy and the generations of her family who answered the call to serve.

Though fiercely proud of her Irish heritage, Meda cooked like an Italian. She found great joy in preparing delicious meals, hosting holidays and family gatherings, and making sure no one ever left hungry. Her home became a place where stories were shared, traditions were passed down, and memories were made.

Her kindness, hospitality, and pride in her community created a legacy that will live on through the generations she nurtured and loved.

Meda leaves her sons, Thomas Moschini, Sr. (Christine) and Richard Moschini (Teddi); her grandchildren, Robert W. Moschini, Paige Viel, Katelynn Dolan (Joe), Thomas Moschini, Jr. (Shelby), Jennifer Blanton (Aaron), Abigail Musanti (Maegan), and Richard D. Moschini; along with 12 great-grandchildren who brought her much joy.  She also leaves her sister, Frances ‘Red” Baillargeon and many nieces and nephews, including her special nephew Dominic Moschini and his family.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Robert, her brother John Murphy, Jr and her sister Marilyn Johnson.

In lieu of flowers, Meda may be remembered with contribution to the Plainville Fire Company Memorial Scholarship Fund, 77 W. Main St, Plainville or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at http://www.StJude.org
