Maria Czechorowski Obituary

Maria (Sulima) Czechorowski passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7, 2026.  While we mourn her absence, we rejoice knowing she is finally reunited with her family in Christ.

Born in Poland on June 23, 1949, Maria was the eldest of five children born to the late Waclaw and Jadwiga (Maciulewski) Sulima. She carried the values of faith, hard work, and steadfast devotion to family throughout her life.

In 1985, she immigrated to Connecticut, making her home in New Britain, where she built a life filled with love and purpose. Maria dedicated many years of service as a technician at PQ Controls Inc, where she was admired for her strong work ethic and dependability. A devout Catholic, she was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church, finding strength and comfort in her faith.

She found joy in life's simple blessings-preparing delicious meals for those she loved, traveling, and, above all, spending time with her family. Of all the roles she embraced, none brought her greater happiness than being "Babcia." Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she treasured every moment shared with them.

Maria will be remembered for her quiet strength, gentle heart, steady faith, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the traditions she lovingly passed down through the generations.

She is survived by her son Karol Krahel, his wife Edyta (Kulbicka) and their children, Jack and Olivia; her sisters, Krystyna Sulima, Zofia Beta and her husband Wiesław, and Celina Czerwinski and her husband Ryszard; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by both of her parents as well as her brother Stanislaw Sulima.

Maria was immensely proud of her family carrying on a multi-generational military legacy. Her son Karol served in the Connecticut Air National Guard, and her granddaughter Olivia currently serves. Beyond her own family, Maria held a lifelong soft spot in her heart for all who serve. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut National Guard Foundation Inc.
