Louis P. Mandeville Sr., treasured husband, father, sports enthusiast, and story teller, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2023, at the age of 83, joining his beloved wife Theresa in eternal peace during the month of what would have been their 58th wedding anniversary.
Born on May 23, 1940, in Wauregan, CT, Lou proudly served his country, having been drafted into the US Army in 1963. Upon his honorable discharge in 1965, he met the love of his life, Theresa. They settled in Plainville soon after, where they raised their family, and together embarked on countless road trips, taking statewide Sunday drives along the beautiful Connecticut shoreline. Their shared love for country western music led them on many adventures, making lasting memories, and making it a point to try their luck at local casinos along the way. Sports played a significant role in Lou's life, and he was a passionate baseball fan of both the NY Yankees and Plainville Blue Devils, rarely missing a game. He also followed the New York Giants and was an ardent supporter of UCONN Women's basketball. In his free time, Lou was a fixture at Angelo and Jeff’s Modern Barber, where he shared endless stories and created lasting friendships. His magnetic personality and ability to connect with others made him a cherished member of the community.
The family extends their gratitude to Lou’s caregivers, allowing his last few years to be in the comforts of home, especially Tammy, whose care and concern went above and beyond, as well as the staff at Day Break in Plainville where Lou enjoyed his weekly visits.
He is survived by his children, Louis P. Mandeville, Jr., his wife Lisa and their son, Tyler; Michelle Moss, her husband Scott and their children Eileen, Ethan, Justin, and Alex; Felecia Mandeville and her son Jacob; and Paul Springer, his wife Ricci and their children Rosemary and Richard; his siblings, Claire Englehart, Andre, Alan and Adrian Mandeville; his second family, The Cianchetti’s, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his sister, Anita and brothers, Lucien and Alfred.
In lieu of flowers, Lou may be remembered with contributions to the House of Heroes CT, 3342 Whitney Ave Hamden CT 06518 or http://www.hohct.org
