Lori Ann Motto Obituary

Lori Ann Motto, 58, of New Britain, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Born in New Britain on November 16, 1967, Lori was the beloved daughter of Thomas D. and Gloria L. (Mirabelli) Motto. A proud lifelong resident of New Britain, she was raised in the city she loved, attending Holmes Elementary School, St. Francis of Assisi Middle School, and Mary Immaculate Academy High School.

A trailblazer within her family, Lori was the first to pursue a college education, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Central Connecticut State University. She went on to enjoy a successful and respected career in accounting, lending her talents to several local manufacturing companies, including Hamcraft Industries and State Boiler, before retiring after twenty-six dedicated years with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. Her intelligence, diligence, and work ethic earned the admiration of colleagues throughout her career.

Outside of work, Lori embraced life with enthusiasm and found joy in the simple things that brought people together. She was a passionate hockey fan and a devoted supporter of the New York Rangers, celebrating every victory and enduring every defeat with die-hard loyalty. Music was the soundtrack of her life, and few things made her happier than listening to the Dave Matthews Band. Among her favorites were Here On Out, #41, and Grey Street, while Fleetwood Mac's timeless Landslide also held a special place in her heart.

Lori was gifted with creative hands and a generous spirit. An avid knitter, she lovingly crafted handmade gifts that will continue to warm both the hearts and homes of those fortunate enough to receive them. Each Christmas, friends eagerly anticipated her famous pizzelles, a tradition she delighted in sharing as a heartfelt expression of her love and friendship.

Perhaps Lori's greatest gift was the way she treasured the people in her life. She shared heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and love shown to her by the Rocco family, Janet Dino, Kyle and Nicole, Brandon and Frankie, and Justin and Nicole. They welcomed her as one of their own, filling her life with treasured memories, laughter, and a sense of belonging for which she remained forever thankful. Their friendship was among life's greatest blessings.  Lori Ann also leaves behind a “cherished honorary brother”, Joseph Antonelli, his wife Shanielle and sons Brayden and Dylan, many dear friends and coworkers, and all whose lives were enriched by her kindness, generosity, and quiet strength. She will be remembered for her warm heart, thoughtful nature, and the lasting impact she made on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
