Lois Ann Hodlin, 81 of Cheshire, died on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Hartford Hospital.
Born in New Britain on April 8, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Pliny Hodlin and Helen (Tyler) Hodlin. She is survived by her sister C. Jane Owen of Middlebury, VT; and hers brother Pliny Hodlin of Southington and Paul Hodlin of Milton, MA. She was predeceased by her sister C. Joan Bruske, formerly of Newington.
In life, Lois loved visiting with her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She especially loved visiting her “Grandma Ty” in Vermont. In retirement, she met monthly with her “JJJ Lunch Bunch”.
Lois graduated from Plainville High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science from CCSU in Education. She also completed a sixth year of studies. She taught transitional first grade and second grade at John J. Jennings School in Bristol, which reminded her of her own elementary school, Linden Street School in Plainville. She enjoyed her students, especially learning about them later in life. Lois’ home church was the Plainville United Methodist Church, where she was active throughout much of her life. She helped edit a book of congregation memories, represented the church at the New York Annual Conference, and loved the church Lenten soup suppers.
Lois was a world traveler. She thought parts of Japan were beautiful. She also thought Machu Pichu was spiritual. She enjoyed Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands the most. Her last experience was a stay vacation in Paris, France with her special nephew, Jeff.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 21, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Plainville United Methodist Church, 156 Red Stone Hill, with a reception to follow. Burial will be held at a later date in the church memorial garden. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Lois’ family for their trust.
