It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our cherished Kristin Brigandi. She left us peacefully on October 24, 2024, at home and surrounded by her loved ones after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A lifelong Connecticut resident, Kristin was born on March 4, 1980, and graduated Simsbury High School in 1998. She resided in both Plainville and Farmington and became a proud business owner when establishing Dirty Tails in 2007, Plainville’s first doggie daycare and boarding facility.
Affectionately known as “Ten,” Kristin possessed a vibrant, young-at-heart quality that made many moments feel livelier and fun. She had a strong passion for music and often traveled far and wide to experience the magic of a live performance, forging friendships that spanned genres and generations along the way.
She developed a deep love of animals that would shape her life. From opening her home to countless furry friends that she considered family, to turning her passion into a thriving service business for the local animal community, Kristin’s compassionate heart and unwavering commitment to animal welfare inspired everyone around her.
A dedicated member of the Graceway Church, Kristin felt at home in the Graceway community. She believed in the power of her faith and found great joy in her spiritual journey.
Kristin was a devoted mother to Lucille, instilling the values of hard work, honesty, resilience and kindness. She shared a special bond with her nieces and nephews and enjoyed a wide circle of friends. She was known to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary ones.
Kristin will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter, Lucille Cavallo; Lucille’s father, Rick Cavallo; parents, Gregory & Penny Brigandi; sisters, Dawn Ziegler (Phil Mazza) and Allison Cheffer (Ronan Golding); aunt and uncle, John & Nancy DiCocco, brother-in-law John Ziegler; nephews Douglas Adler (Paige Adler), Alexander Cheffer, Frank Ziegler, Nicholas Cavallo and Vincent Cavallo, nieces Penelope Ziegler, Esmae Adler, and Madison Cavallo; stepdaughter, Ashley Cavallo; mother-in-law, Joanne Newman and dear friends, Scott Reckert and Lele. Kristin was predeceased by her grandparents, Edward & Mary Brigandi and William & Elizabeth Staryk and beloved pets Stella & Charlie.
The family wishes to acknowledge the staff at Smilow Cancer Hospital Yale – New Haven for their care and compassion. A special thank you to Monica, Erica and Olivia.
In lieu of flowers, Kristin’s love for animals may be remembered with contributions to Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Inc. 103 Vision Way, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or https://fidelco.org/ways-to-give/memorials-dedications/
