Katherine E. Waite

Katherine E. Waite, 80, of Plainville passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home on Saturday, April 10, 2021. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Frank H. Waite.

Katherine was born on December 6, 1940 in Long Island, NY daughter to the late Philip and Mary. She grew up in New York, graduated from Connecticut College and as her first job, which was her favorite, worked at the Bronx Zoo, where she expanded her love for nature and animals. Upon relocating to Plainville, she worked as the office manager at the CT Science Center, was a former teacher, and also worked at the Barnes Nature Center in Bristol. In her spare time, she enjoyed listening to classical music and being outdoors to bird watch. Above all, she was a very supportive, loving, and devoted mother and wife.

Katherine is survived by her daughters, Meredith and Kimberly Waite, both of New York, and her younger brother, Philip, of New Jersey. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her older sister, Taxia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 from 9 to 10 AM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A service in celebration of Katherine’s life will be held at 10 AM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately.
