Judith Ann (Vojtila) Markie, 76 of Plainville, passed away on Friday May 24, 2024. Judy, as she was known to many, was the beloved wife of the late Lester “Sonny” Markie, for over 40 years.
Born in New Britain on March 7, 1948, Judy was the daughter of the late John and Ruth (Orvis) Vojtila. A 1966 graduate of Plainville High School, she settled in her hometown where she raised her two boys, and worked as Plainville Community School’s dispatcher for Dattco Bus Company for over 30 years. She was an exceptional woman who enjoyed gardening and making beautiful handmade cards with her dear friends and her granddaughter Danielle. She loved to cook, especially making pierogis by the hundreds with her family. She was full of interesting stories and memories to share, mostly about her favorite topics, history and astronomy. Judy was a devoted member of the Plainville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and she enjoyed spreading the word of her faith with others. A kind and loving woman, she will be missed by many and remembered fondly.
She leaves her sons, Wesley Dupont and his wife Lana and Jamie Dupont and his wife Rachael; her sisters, Carol Vojtila and her partner Fred Sidoti, Lee Vojtila and her partner Jean Goering and Phyllis Vojtila; and her grandchildren, Kayla, Jake, Josie, Danielle and Alexandria. She also leaves her step-children, Sharon Dery, Jeffrey Markie, Sandra Rinaldi, Laurie Fonck and Lynn Salerno along with their families; her special nephews, Fred Seely and Butch Markie and her beloved dog, Keirwy. She was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Dupont.
A memorial service in celebration of Judy’s life will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall, 138 River St, Southington. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to Judy’s family for their trust.
