Joyce K. (Morley) Gernhard

Joyce K. (Morley) Gernhard, 78, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the Hospital of Central CT New Britain General Campus. She is now reunited with her loving daughter, Karen Rivenburgh, whom she longed to embrace in her arms.

Joyce was born on May 15, 1945 daughter to the late Kenneth and Eleanor (Hackbarth) Morley. She grew up in New Britain and graduated from Mary Immaculate Academy, where she made many lifelong friendships. Joyce kept up with her classmates, helping to organize and attend their high school reunions through the years. Throughout her career, Joyce was employed by various insurance companies and was dedicated to her profession. She loved to travel and went on many memorable annual trips to QVC and Amish Country in Pennsylvania. In addition, she always looked forward to taking trips to play Bingo at Foxwoods Casino. She was a member of the Plainville Senior Center and actively participated in the ceramic’s classes. In her down-time, she reveled in crocheting and keeping up with social media.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Diane L. Llaser and her fiancé, Marc A. Karczewksi, of Plainville, her son-in-law, Michael Dutremble, of Bristol, her brother, Bruce Morley and his wife, Shirley, of Bristol, her granddaughter, Anita Dutremble, of Bristol, her grandson, Bryan J. Llaser and his wife, Audrey, of Kittery, ME, her grandson, Eric J. Llaser and his wife, Michelle, of Manchester, her granddaughter, Julie L. Llaser, of Bristol, her great-granddaughter, Carmen Llaser, of Kittery, ME, and her great-grandson, Roger SongSong, of Kittery, ME. In addition to her daughter, Karen Rivenburgh, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gernhard and her step daughter, Sharon R. Dutremble.

Family and friends are welcome to gather on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 from 5 to 7 PM at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad Street, Plainville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad Street, Plainville. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church.
