Joseph Matteo Monzillo, Jr. 81 of New Britain, formerly of Berlin, passed away on December 21, 2023. He was the husband of the late Joanne (Nizeul) Monzillo who predeceased him in 2018.
Joseph was a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical School, where he honed his cooking skills and discovered his lifelong passion for the culinary arts. A milkman in his younger years, his career evolved into contracting and home design. He lent his expertise to companies such as Variety Homes, Lowe's, and Home Depot where his creativity and eye for detail were evident in the countless homes he beautifully designed and renovated. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Joseph was known for his diverse interests and hobbies. He was an avid pool player, sharing his skills and knowledge by teaching his children the game he loved and participating in local leagues with his daughter. Joseph's musical talents shone bright as he played the guitar with soulful melodies that captivated those around him. In his spare time, Joseph found joy in the virtual realm, and made friends across the country through online gaming. Joseph's love extended beyond people to animals, particularly his grand-dogs, whom he adored and pampered with affection. Joseph had a sweet tooth that was evident to all who knew him and his love for donuts was legendary. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, talents and zest for life and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Monzillo and his wife Staci, Sarah Monzillo and Matthew Monzillo; his grandchildren Amber and Emily; and extended family. He was the last surviving of his siblings.
In lieu of flowers, Joseph’s love for animals may be remembered with contributions to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd, Newington, CT 06111.
