Jonathan McMahon Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of a truly unforgettable soul, Jonathan Eric McMahon, who left us unexpectedly on Monday, June 30, 2025.

Born on December 30, 1970, he was a son of the late Gilbert E. McMahon and MaryEllen McMahon of Savannah, GA and Margaret (Graney) Arcari and Thomas Arcari of Plainville.  A graduate of Plainville High School, he pursued a career in health care, earning his LPN degree from Goodwin Technical University and RN from CCSU.  A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Jon served his country with the 143rd FSB with honor, grit, (and the occasional practical joke,) having been deployed to Bosnia after 9/11 as a combat medic with B Company, and was honorably discharged in 2002.  After the Army, Jon traded fatigues for scrubs, and turned his big heart toward caring for others through nursing and home health care. He had a knack for knowing just what people needed; be it one of his culinary specialties, a heated debate about politics that left everyone thinking, or one of his epic big bear hugs.

A self-taught craftsman, Jon could fix anything, including a bad day with his quick wit and humor. He had the gift of gab, the wisdom of someone who’d seen it all, and a sixth sense that could read a room (or a person) in a second flat. He was the life of every party, the king of creative nicknames, and the unofficial mayor of the dinner table. If you were lucky enough to share a meal with him, you knew the food would be delicious, the laughter would be loud, and the stories would be legendary. Though he is no longer physically present, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, compassion, and craftsmanship that will forever live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Margaret, Tom and MaryEllen, he leaves his two beautiful children, Hunter and Sophia and their mother, Tami Christopher; his beloved partner and best friend, Crystal Agimudie; his siblings, Thomas Arcari, II (Gretchen), Joel Arcari, Jill Couture (Christopher), Kim Arcari, and Katie McMahon; his lifelong friend, Christopher Cadrain; along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of friends. He was predeceased by his brother, David McMahon.

In lieu of flowers, Jon may be remembered with contributions to Tunnel to Towers at www.t2t.org.
