John W. Sladeck

A graveside service in celebration of the lives of John and Catherine will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 522 Terryville Ave. Bristol

John W. Sladeck, 83, died December 12, 2009 at his home in Melbourne, FL. He was the husband of the Late Catherine N. (Sweet) Sladeck who passed away on May 15, 2020 and with whom he shared 39 years of marriage.

John was born in New Britain on September 20, 1926 and lived in New Britain for 39 years. He later moved to Forestville and lived there for 34 years, spending the last 14 years in Melbourne. John proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Bristol, the Veterans of Foreign Wars # 1406 of Melbourne and was a lifetime member of the Quartette Club of New Britain.

He leaves five step children, Frederick W. Korn, III and his wife Deena-Kay of Plainville, Gary C. Korn of Larkspur, CA, Janet L. Pulsifer of South Harpswell, ME, Russell A. Korn of Bristol and Nancy E. Weiss and her husband Richard of Mystic, her grandchildren, Jolene Wodatch, Frederick Korn, IV, Jason and Eric Pulsifer, Amanda Firczak, Brian, Kristin and Joshua Korn, Marc Grabulis and Katherine Leslie, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several cousins including Barbara Sladeck and Marsha Kelliher.   

A graveside service in celebration of John’s life will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery in Bristol and will be announced at a later date when all are able to safely gather together.  The staff at Plainville Funeral Home extends their gratitude to the Sladeck family for their trust.
