John William Pisiakowski, 69, of Brookfield, MA, formerly of Plainville, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
Born in New Britain on August 24, 1956, John was the firstborn of four children to the late Jan and Florence (Surdam) Wolf. He was raised and educated in Plainville, where the values of hard work, loyalty, and love of family took deep root and guided him throughout his life.
At age 18, John answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Vietnam era and carried immense pride in being a Marine for the rest of his life; an honor he wore loyally.
John shared 17 beautiful years of marriage with the love of his life, Debra LaBarge-Pisiakowski. Together they cherished the outdoors, taking long walks, camping, and creating countless memories at their beloved waterfront home on Quaboag Pond in Brookfield. Whether fishing in the summer or ice fishing in the winter, those peaceful days by the water were among John’s greatest joys. He missed Debra dearly every day, and after 14 long years apart, he is now reunited with her once more.
A dedicated and hardworking man, John retired as a bookbinding supervisor after more than 30 years with Muller Martini Manufacturing in New York. His commitment and pride in his work reflected the same integrity he brought to every part of his life. A loyal New England Patriots fan, John also found joy in the simple pleasures—good food, familiar places, and friendly faces. He was a well-known and familiar presence at the Clam Box restaurant, where he leaves behind many friends, especially his dear friends Timothy and Cynthia Dugas, who embraced John as family and cared for him with kindness in his later years.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Brookhaven Assisted Living for their exceptional care, and to the Dugas family for all they did to ensure John’s comfort, dignity, and well-being. Their love and devotion brought him great peace and comfort at the end of his journey.
John is survived by his “little sister,” Donna M. Pisiakowski, who was by his side in his final moments—holding his hand, playing Christian music, and sharing cherished memories with him each day; his brothers, Robert and Edward Pisiakowski and their families; his dear friends, Timothy and Cynthia Dugas and their children, Owen, Lillian and Lana; his Godson Joseph Bokanoski; and many cousins, including his special cousin Donna Safirowski; along with a wide circle of friends in Connecticut and Massachusetts. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Martha Flugrad and his special aunt, Maria Maciaszek.
In lieu of flowers, John may be remembered with contributions to the Plainville Community Food Pantry, PO Box 233 Plainville, CT 06062.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on Sunday February 8, 2026 from 5-8 p.m. at the Clam Box 245 W. Main St, E. Brookfield, MA. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held on Monday February 9, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery, 151 Farmington Ave, Plainville, CT.
