John J. Palmisano Jr., passed away peacefully on December 27, 2023, at the age of 74.
Born in New Britain on May 20, 1949, to the late John J. Palmisano, Sr. and Irma (Trevisan) Palmisano. He was the oldest of four children. John graduated in 1967 from Plainville High School. He attended Catholic University in Washington DC, Northwestern Community College in Winsted, and University of Hartford. John had a thirst for knowledge and an unparalleled passion for reading. He had a vast collection of books and was a frequent visitor of Plainville Public Library. This quest for knowledge showcased John’s intellectual prowess and his never-ending desire to expand his horizon and get lost in a good read.
John was a member of the football team for PHS. This passion for sports continued throughout his life. As a proud owner of Great American Sports Cards in Middleboro, Mass where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with the community. A dedicated sports fan, John meticulously kept score and statistics for his favorite teams, including the Red Sox, Celtics, and Patriots. He traveled with his brothers to stadiums throughout the Northeast to cheer on the teams he held dear. With a vibrant personality and love for socializing John excelled in various sales positions earning numerous awards. He utilized his friendly nature to connect with others effortlessly. Known for his unwavering loyalty, he formed lasting friendships. John was regarded as someone you could count on and took pride in his role as a devoted and supportive uncle, always eager to offer guidance and support to his beloved nieces, nephews and their families. John shared a mutual affection for his dogs, rarely without a faithful companion by his side that he rescued and provided a safe and loving home. He is now reunited with his beloved dog Buddy, and will be missed dearly by Beagley with whom he shared a special bond.
John's memory will forever be treasured by his sister, Darlene Egan and her husband, Jeff; his brother, Leonard Palmisano and his wife Lorraine; and his nieces and nephews, Bethany Jenks, her husband Mike and their daughter Sophia, Jeffrey Egan, his wife Theresa and their daughter Claire, Derek Palmisano, his fiancé Emily and their daughter Mina and Lyndsey Paradis, her husband Richard and their children Austin, Brody and Summer. John was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Palmisano.
In lieu of flowers, John’s love for dogs may be remembered with contributions to Animal Rescue Foundation, 366 Main St. Terryville, CT 06786.
Family and friends may gather at Plainville Funeral Home 81 Broad St., Plainville, CT on Monday, January 8, 2024 from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery in New Britain.
